Downsizing

I have a fabulous, huge, hi-tech vacuum cleaner. It filters through water so there's no particles floating around, and it also washes the carpet. It's also so heavy that I hardly ever have the energy to use it.

Today, I gave in to the obvious.  I bought the smallest, cheapest vacuum cleaner I could just to do a quick clean regularly.  I'll keep the big one for washing the carpet and couches, etc. (With pets, and with kids even though they're grown-up, there'll always be times we need the carpet and lounges washed.)

It was a long shopping trip today. I had to stay out for a couple of hours, because I was waiting for my car to be serviced.  I was exhausted when I got home.

After a few hours' sleep, I got the new vacuum out and had a quick run over the lounge room carpet with it. Compared to the big machine, this new one looks like a toy, and it feels like a toy. It is very light weight.  It probably doesn't work as well as the more powerful vacuum, but does a good, basic job.  For me, that's good enough. (And the big vacuum cleaner/carpet washer is still there for a thorough clean whenever I'm well enough.)

Any time I can find a lighter, easier, way to do any household task, I'll take it.
